So far Marvel has confirmed partnerships with Hasbro, Gentle Giant, Upper Deck, Funko, and Hot Topic. It sounds like there will be plenty of Secret Wars-branded merchandise this time too. That comic was accompanied by a Secret Wars action figure line from Mattel (the first time many of Marvel's characters had been given the toy treatment). The original Secret Wars was a yearlong, 12-issue event that debuted in 1984 and featured a giant lineup of Marvel heroes and villains forced to clash on Battleworld by the cosmic entity The Beyonder. The cover features the current Avengers battling numerous other heroes, including a classic, Silver Age-inspired Avengers team, Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales, Supreme Power's Hyperion, Iron Man 2020, Earth X's Spider-Girl, and plenty more. Marvel did reveal a montage from artist Alex Ross that hints at the scope of Secret Wars. This is a story the famously methodical writer has been planning since he began his Avengers run in 2012. Secret Wars looks to be the endgame of Hickman's ongoing "World Incursion" conflict, as heroes go to war to ensure the survival of their respective worlds. Time is Running Out for Marvel's Avengers ComicsMarvel didn't reveal many story details other than that Secret Wars spins out of the "Time Runs Out" storyline currently unfolding in both The Avengers and New Avengers.
