![]() This one includes an endearing director of a kids center and the hunky fireman sent to inspect safety codes. This was another fun entry to the Mile High Firefighters series by Mariah Ankenman. *Thank you to NetGalley and the author for a ARC of this book* Thanks to Entangled, wildfire marketing and NetGalley for this arc in exchange for my review. ![]() This will be a perfect beach read this summer, but in the meantime you can grab it to warm you on a cold day! I really enjoyed how they didn’t just dive right into things despite their obvious attraction for one another and the fact that they both had background noise that they needed to overcome helped add depth to the story. It starts out mutually beneficial and turns into so much more than they both ever anticipated. (I know, enough with the fire stuff lol) Once they sort out what’s really going on, they learn that they can be of help to each other-Dyson can help get the center up to code and Lexi can pretend to be his girlfriend to get his sisters off his back about dating. Dyson is a fireman who’s been burned by love ) The day before her birthday, Dyson comes to the center to do an inspection and Lexi mistakes him for a strip-o-gram because he’s so hot. ![]() Lexi is a hardworking, selfless woman who runs a center for kids to keep them busy and off the streets. Fun, fake dating, family and friendship are all at the heart of this story and it’s fully engaging (see what I did there? Alliteration and a fire pun all in one lol:) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Twenty-one-year-old Abigail Canner is a young black woman with a degree from Oberlin, a letter of employment from the law firm that has undertaken Lincolns defense, and the iron-strong conviction, learned from her late mother, that "whatever limitations society might place on ordinary negroes, they would never apply to her." And so Abigail embarks on a life that defies the norms of every stratum of Washington society: working side by side with a white clerk, meeting the great and powerful of the nation, including the president himself. Two years later he is charged with overstepping his constitutional authority, both during and after the Civil War, and faces an impeachment trial. Carters thrilling new novel takes as its starting point an alternate history: President Abraham Lincoln survives the assassination attempt at Fords Theatre on April 14, 1865. From the best-selling author of The Emperor of Ocean Park and New England White, a daring reimagining of one of the most tumultuous moments in our nations past ![]() ![]() ![]() Every time he scowls at her, she has the most improper desire to kiss him - and a whole lot more. She didn’t expect him to be so … well, infuriatingly attractive. So when the priggish Duke comes to call, she does everything in her power - including setting the family pig on him - to drive him away. She is not about to let the tyrannical Duke of Montford steal away all she has worked for because of some antiquated contract between their families. And a crooked castle in the middle of Yorkshire.Īstrid Honeywell, staunch bluestocking, has struggled for years to keep her family together by running the estate and family brewery after her father’s death. The Duke of Montford, cold, precise, and more powerful than the Prince Regent himself, wants things the way he wants them: cross-referenced, indexed, and at his beck and call. ![]() Here is the book blurb about The Duke’s Holiday: Here is a link to buy if you’re interested. Hence my decision to publish The Duke’s Holiday. As I dithered around trying to write Thief of Hearts (I have major writer’s block by the way), I thought it might be a good idea to at least try to be productive in some writerly way. I wrote The Duke’s Holiday around the same time as I wrote Prince of Hearts, but I have just been sitting on it. ![]() It is historical romance, not steampunk, so I thought I would publish it under a different name. I have recently published another book under the pen name, Maggie Fenton. ![]() |
